Etria Businesses and NPCs

The town of Etria is a small town set up near the Labyrinths for adventurers to rest, stock up on supplies and get medical attention. There are many buildings dotting this small town, however, most of the buildings are inaccessible. They have doors and windows but none of them work and peering through them the inside seems...flat. As if the building is only a front and doesn't actually exist. Apart from guild buildings occupied by active guilds, only six NPC run buildings can be entered. Talking to the NPCs yield conversations like what one would expect in an RPG, no matter what you say to them.

Expedition HQ:

The government building of Etria. Here you can access a full bestiary of monsters found in the labyrinth as well as maps of the currently explored areas of the labyrinth. These are found in the library...but despite how many books there are, no matter which books you pull out they all say the same thing as long as they're from the same section no matter how they look on the outside.

The NPC in this building is Persephone, the crown princess of Maginia and leader of the Maginia Expeditionary Force. She has enlisted adventurers from all over the world to seek the hidden treasures of Etria.

Napier’s Firm:

Come here for all your equipment needs! You can also come to sell materials you found in the labyrinth. For some reason, all your materials sell for pennies but the weapons, armour and accessories sold costs a lot of money? What gives?! Complaining to the owner gets you absolutely nowhere, however as she continues to just spout her stock phrases.

She used to run a shop in the ocean city of Armoroad. After hearing about this latest Labyrinth she comes here knowing where there’s unexplored labyrinths: there’s hidden treasure. If she’s not talking about a rare material she needs or a treasure she’d like to see she’s probably telling you about all the amazing equipment you could be spending money on. Maybe she’ll even mention a city she came from...but any further questioning will only lead back to more hard selling.

Golden Deer Pub:

Where quests are posted and accepted. The barkeep talks about some patrons who come give these quests but most of the time there’s no one there. Except, of course when it’s a fetch quest. Do these patrons even exist!?

The pub does sell drinks and food. Like everything else, it’s expensive.

Fontayne who owns this establishment looks dignified but his personality is mischievous and he likes teasing people. How effective that is is debatable given he talks to you using stock phrases! Try not to get too irritated from hearing the same joke or tease over and over and over again.

Ceft Apothecary:

The doctor’s place. She sells healing items ranging from things that can recover HP, TP and status ailments. Be ready to shell out a lot of money for some of the really good items. For some reason, there are no items that restore a character after they die... they do offer that service but she's pretty vague about how that works. The Ceft will offer tips for dealing with ailments in the labyrinth and maybe some tips for when it’s best to use certain items.

When characters die this is where you need to bring their final effects for resurrection.

Lady of the Lake:

The inn offers rooms for rent. Unlike sleeping outside or in guild buildings, however, it is not for free and while at first the cost isn’t too high, as your level gets higher the cost gets higher as well. Staying in the inn allows you to recover TP which doesn’t happen when you just sleep outside or in another store.

The NPC running the inn is Vivian and her companion: a cat named Merlin. Living an undisciplined lifestyle, she can usually be found voicing her laziness and lack of motivation to anyone who will listen...and to anyone who doesn't want to listen but have no choice because this is the only place to sleep and you have to get through it to get the option to pay to take one of the rooms.

Explorers Guild:

Here is where you come to request to form a guild. Once you form a guild a new building will become ‘real’ and you will finally have a home. Don’t worry, unlike everything else in this place, the services of the Explorers Guild is completely free! This is also where you can cash in your Class Change Coupons.

Like sleeping in the inn, sleeping in your own guild building allows you to recover TP.

The Guildmaster is in charge of all the adventurer on the expeditionary campaign. He’s a calm military man who doesn’t talk much. When you ask about class changes, he'll either give you an explanation of the class you want and, no, there is no SKIP function provided. You just have to sit through a possibly two to three minute explanation about the class and all it entails. For someone who normally doesn't talk much he sure can go on about this...

Incidentally, if you don't have a class change license, he will tell you that you need one to change your class. Of course, he doesn't tell you where to find one and any attempt to speak to him further will only end in more of his default conversation starters.

Entrance to the Labyrinth:

The gates separating from Etria from the Labyrinth and Gladsheim. On one side, all special skills don’t work but there’s safety. On the other side is danger and adventure. While you can see out of the gate you cannot simply pass through it. While trying to leave the town, you will be prompted by a blue coloured translucent screen. It says,

“Where would you like to go?

☙Yggdrasil Labyrinth ☙Gladsheim ☙Stay in Etria

When you select one of the first two options, you will suddenly be able to pass through the archway and upon doing so you will find yourself in front of the correct labyrinth.
